Prima Artists showcase by Mark Ritchie

Tribute artistes Darren and Tania Alboni presented a segment of their two hour Ultimate Tribute Show, with a glimpse of their Amy Winehouse and Mick Hucknall impressions. If this rest of the show is up to this standard, then surely lucrative cruise ship work would seem to be assured. The vocal quality and the sincerity of the impressions will surely make this a superior addition to the tribute market. The sound-alike quality - in particular the Mick Hucknall - impression was quite stunningly accurate

Tania was chosen to go on SAT.1 German TV show LEBE DEINEN STAR The best doubles in the world.
12 of the best were chosen for the show, It was a viewer phone in votes show. Tania went through to the final on the following week and came 3rd after Micheal Jackson (USA) and Elvis Presley (Ireland) which was a huge achievement especially as Amy Winehouse wasn't so well known in Germany and  given the legends she was up against.

The Amy Winehouse stand-ins
by Pete Paphides, Will Hodgkinson, Sophie Harris, Ben Machell, Phoebe Greenwood

So Amy Winehouse’s cancellations have left a hole in your gig diary. Worry not
The Times is here to namecheck ten stand-ins playing in the run-up to Christmas

(The article goes on to tell about DUFFY, ONE LITTLE PLANE, ADELE)

AND FINALLY . . . TANIA ALBONI (OR IS IT AMY WINEHOUSE?)

“It’s not just the songs,” says Tania Alboni, a professional Amy Winehouse impersonator. “I do all the head flicks and the skirt ruffling – all the mannerisms.”

Until a few weeks ago, Alboni had formed only part of Winehouse’s set – she can also turn her hand to Cher, Shania Twain, and, impressively, all of Abba. But since the release of Valerie, Winehouse bookings have gone through the roof. Currently, Alboni charges an average of £800 for an “Amy”, but it’s a fee that varies according to the size of the venue. It’s a development that thrills Alboni. “I wasn’t a huge fan of the other people I impersonated, but I played Amy’s album Back to Black constantly, ever since I got it for Christmas last year.”

The 30-year-old singer has dyed her hair black and bought a hairpiece, but says that she doesn’t think her voice is as “amazing” as that of her nominal doppelgänger. However, fans who have turned up to Winehouse shows only to find them cancelled will be reassured to learn that her imitator prides herself on her punctuality. “I’m a one-woman antidrug squad,” she adds helpfully.

At her recent Birmingham NIA show, the real Winehouse responded to hecklers by suggesting that her husband – currently awaiting trial for GBH – might have something to say about all this when he “gets out”. Alboni is married too – to a Simply Red tribute act. So does she adopt a similar line when confronted with demanding punters? No – and, in terms of forging a reputation for herself as “the Amy you can rely on”, it’s probably for the best.

On New Year’s Eve she’s playing “a restauranty pub in Leeds called the Black Horse”. Tomorrow she’s at Room 66 in Glasgow. “I’m expanding the set all the time,” enthuses Alboni.

BBC Television

On November the 23rd 2007, Tania was asked to join in a tongue in cheek BBC programme.

It was the day of Amys husband  Blakes Trial, the BBC show thought that the press hounded Amy too much and on this stressful day they should leave her alone.
Tania was called in to divert the attention of the paparazzi .
Along with the 2 male presenters of the show and around 10 other girls all dressed in strange Amy style wigs, clothes and make up, they walked to the court creating alot of attention. After standing in the freezing cold for an hour, Amys car pulled up, Tania and Garren the main presenter ran all the way after the car to the front entrance, only to be told she had already gone in. They managed to talk with the driver of Amys car briefly and thought maybe she was still in the back hiding.
The story got on the news that evening and in a few magazines including Heat Magazine,
